5 Tips to Keep Your New Years Goals Going Strong!

If you’re like most people, then as the new year came around you took time to revamp your life with new, meaningful, and exciting goals. However, as the days keep passing, so does the excitement. So here are 5 tips to keep your goals in check and continue the new year strong!

1) Write Down Your “Why” Every Week

Every goal we make has a “why” - a deeper meaning or intention that connects us to the goal. As time passes, we tend to lose touch with the reasons why we created our goals in the first place. This is why it’s so important to take just a little bit of time every week to reconnect to our purpose and bring back the vigor and passion that you had when you first created them.

2) Repeat Your Goals to Yourself Every Day

Keeping your goals at the top of your mind plays no minor role in your success. Every day set aside a moment of time to simply think about your goals and repeat them back to yourself. I would recommend doing this either at night right before bed or first thing in the morning. You can either write them down or say them out loud, but doing so can give you a great boost in being excited to incorporate your goals into your daily routine.

3) Share Your Goals With Others

Oftentimes people will think of goals, write them down in a journal, and then tuck them away, never to be seen or heard of again. The problem with this is that when you’re the only one that knows about your goals, it becomes far too easy to abandoned ship when things start to get rocky. A great way to help yourself stay on track and up-to-date with your goals is to let yourself be heard. Make it a point to share your goals with those around you. Doing so not only solidifies the goals in your own mind and heart but also adds a little bit of outside pressure to keep you going.

4) Find an Accountability Partner

Similar to the previous piece of advice, this one is all about support. There’s no better way to keep yourself on track and in check than to have someone checking up on you. You can ask either a friend, family member, spouse, co-worker, or anyone you want to help support you in your goals. Ask them to check up on you daily or weekly (depending on your goal) and report to them every time you complete or miss one of your goals. Having an accountability partner for your goals shows just how serious you are about following them through to completion.

5) Claim Your Victories

Far too often we let ourselves get discouraged and thrown off track by missing a few days of our new routine or not being able to follow through with some of our newly established goals. It’s ok to be a little bummed sometimes, but don’t let it stop you from accomplishing what you’ve set out to achieve. Instead of focusing on all the things you’ve done wrong, start focusing on all that you’re doing right! Notice both the little things and the big ones, and celebrate them! Through claiming your victories you can create a sense of positivity and encouragement surrounding the goals that will help to energize and invigorate you to continue pressing forward into the new year with your mind and heart strong!
